SonarDesk Terms of Use
Version 1.2 · effective 6 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer shown as the seller of SonarDesk on the App Store, publishing as MacSonar ("we", "us"), about SonarDesk: the iPhone app, the SonarDesk app for Mac, and the SonarDesk Connect service. By using SonarDesk or subscribing to SonarDesk Connect, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use SonarDesk.
1. The app licence
Your licence to use the SonarDesk app you download from the App Store is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to it; they cover the SonarDesk Connect service, how you may use SonarDesk, and what happens if those rules are broken. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for SonarDesk or its support.
2. What SonarDesk does
SonarDesk lets you see and control a Mac you have paired with your iPhone. Pairing happens once, on the same network, with a code shown on the Mac and your approval there.
- On the same Wi-Fi as your Mac, seeing and controlling it is free, and so is pasting copied text and images between the two.
- SonarDesk Connect, a paid subscription, adds reaching your Mac from other networks (through our relay, through a VPN you use, or directly) and sending files between your iPhone and your Mac.
3. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough under the law where you live to agree to these terms, or have a parent or guardian agree for you. You may use SonarDesk only with computers you own, or that you are clearly allowed to control by the person or organisation that owns them.
4. Subscriptions and payment
SonarDesk Connect is sold by Apple as an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, at the price shown in the app before you buy. Apple charges your Apple Account, renews the subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and handles cancellations and refunds under its own policies. A free trial, where offered, is available once per Apple Account; if you do not cancel during the trial, the paid subscription begins when it ends. We may change prices for future periods; Apple will tell you before a higher price applies to you.
5. Fair use and limits
To keep the service working for everyone, we set limits, which may change. Today a subscription allows three simultaneous sessions through the relay and files of up to 1 GB each; each Mac can be paired with up to three iPhones, and each iPhone with up to three Macs. A subscription is for you and your own devices; it may not be shared with people outside your household or resold.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use SonarDesk or SonarDesk Connect to:
- access, watch or control any computer without the permission of its owner, or to monitor another person without their knowledge;
- break any law, or infringe anyone's rights, including by sending material you are not allowed to share;
- send malware, or attack, probe or overload our relay or anyone else's systems;
- use the relay as a general-purpose proxy, VPN or file-hosting service, or for anything other than reaching your own paired Mac;
- copy, share or resell a subscription, or get around the limits in section 5 or the pairing and approval steps;
- reverse engineer the relay's protocol to build a competing service, except where the law allows this despite these terms.
7. Suspension and ending the service
We may suspend or end your access to SonarDesk Connect, without notice where the situation requires it, if we reasonably believe you have broken these terms, if your use puts the service, other users or anyone else at risk, or if the law requires it. Because SonarDesk keeps no account for you, we do this by refusing the anonymous subscription number Apple gives your purchase. Refunds for a suspended subscription are handled by Apple under its policies; we do not owe a refund for a suspension caused by a breach of these terms.
You may stop using SonarDesk at any time, and cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings. We may change or discontinue SonarDesk Connect; if we discontinue it, we will say so in the app ahead of time where we reasonably can.
8. Your devices and your content
You are responsible for keeping your Mac and iPhone secure, for who you pair and approve, and for turning on the protections SonarDesk offers, such as the Face ID lock. What you see, type and send through SonarDesk stays yours. Connections are encrypted end to end between your devices; our relay passes them along and cannot read them. See the Privacy Policy for what we do and do not collect.
9. Third-party services
Reaching your Mac through a VPN depends on that VPN, which you set up and which has its own terms. Our relay runs on a cloud provider's servers in the United States. We are not responsible for services we do not operate.
10. No warranty
SonarDesk is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose, and we disclaim implied warranties. Do not rely on SonarDesk where a failure could cause harm.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost data, profits or business, and our total liability to you for any claim about SonarDesk is limited to the amount you paid for SonarDesk Connect in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute about SonarDesk, are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away any right you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts where those laws give it.
Before starting any formal claim, please write to us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date, and the app will point to it. If a change materially reduces your rights, it applies to you from your next subscription period, and you can cancel before then.
14. General
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, the Privacy Policy and Apple's licence are the whole agreement between you and us about SonarDesk.
